Each year, the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) celebrates Neurology on the Hill— a chance for neurologists from around the country to descend upon Washington, DC to advocate for legislation important to the care of neurology patients.
On May 24, neurologists from VCU’s Department of Neurology in conjunction with colleagues from around the state met with staffers in the offices of Virginia Senators Mark R. Warner (D-VA), Tim Kaine (D-VA), Representative A. Donald McEachin (VA-04), and other congressional leaders to advocate for telehealth extension, support for the neurology workforce, and lessening burdensome barriers to care.
Dr. Nassim Zecavati (2nd from left in photo above) provided national issue training on Telehealth legislation (S.3593, HR 7573). Without this legislation, the ability for patients to access telehealth services will be severely threatened when the public health emergency ends.
