Nassim Zecavati, MD, MPH, FAAN is board certified in Epilepsy and Neurology with a special qualification in child neurology. Dr. Zecavati is thrilled to be joining the VCU Department of Neurology as an Associate Professor of Neurology and Director of Epilepsy at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond.
She sees patients for all types of neurological conditions, with a special interest in epilepsy surgery, neurostimulation, neurogenetics and transition of care for youth with epilepsy.
In addition to her medical education, residency and fellowship, Dr. Zecavati completed an additional fellowship in public policy, working for a year in the U.S. Senate crafting provisions of the Affordable Care Act. She is involved in issues that affect children with neurological conditions, serving on advocacy committees for both the Child Neurology Society and the American Academy of Neurology.
Beyond her roles as a physician, researcher and public policy advocate, Dr. Zecavati is the mother of three young children. Being a mom has given her a new level of investment and understanding for the families under her care.
Dr. Zecavati is also an avid gardener and enjoys cooking (and eating) delicious food. We are excited about her joining our team!
